Hilary Cinis - Tribal Bellydance Sydney

Hilary has constantly studied dance and movement disciplines through out her life, starting with Classical ballet and Russian folk at the age of 5. From there she moved into martial arts including Tai Kwon Do, Karate and Kung Fu and also Modern Dance and Yoga.

In 2000 Hilary started Classical Egyptian Bellydance, Cabaret Bellydance and Turkish Romani with Terezka at the City Dance Centre, switching soon after to specialise in American Tribal Bellydance (ATS) with Master Teacher Devi Mamak in Hazelbrook NSW. Since then, she has also studied with other Tribal teachers both in the US and visiting Australia including ATS creator Carolena Nerricio (USA), Rachel Brice (USA) and Melusina (Aust).

More recently she branched into Tribal Fusion which combines ATS bellydance with many other styles to produce a truly modern and unique dance form. This also allows her to occassionally include her skills of fire performance and stiltwalking.

From 2003 Hilary was a founding member and the director of Tribal Bellydance troupe Urbanturban (now Urban Qabila) leaving to pursue alternative solo and collaborative interests at the end of 2006 and has been teaching weekly classes in Sydney since 2004.

She performs regularly at nightclubs, weddings, birthdays, corporate functions and cultural festivals. She has worked with many respected live bands and musicians including Jamal Zraika, Flight, The Zion Band, Kim Sanders and Friends, Al Janoub and Charlie McMahon.

Her performances and shows have been described as "powerful", "mesmerising" and "elegant". They strive to be unique and exotic using movements based in bellydance and folk traditions, flavoured with modern performance interpretations and urban edges set to a mixture of contemporary cross culture alternative sounds and traditional tribal rhythms.
